Since March I was using a free theme from Design Disease called Dilectio and blogging at BeMango. Things were going well till I got an urge last week to shake things up and create something. So I spent a few days sketching, working in Photoshop, and cranking away at WordPress and am proud to have ended up with this design.
You will see that there is a lot of emphasis on the title. I liked that because it makes each post “pop” and feel more magazine like. I also created a post style that would let me showcase quotes. I’m so glad Georgia is a web font.
I still have a good amount of work to do. I need to fix some CSS tweaks as well as create a template for “pages” and create sections for “About Me”, “My Travel”, and “My Photos”. Enjoy the new domain, design, and please leave me your feedback.

I like the new design, Ryan. Well-chosen colors, a straight-forward sidebar, and nice headline styles.
The “Commentary” category seems a bit strange to me, since most of your posts are commentary on something. Within the category, there doesn’t seem to be much of a link between the posts. And the footer (“This site was…”) distracted me a couple times when I reached the bottom of a page. Does it have to be on every page?
Still, as always, I’m a fan. You’re a master of shapes and shades, and I hope we can work together on something again soon.
You are too nice Sumeet. It has been a while since I opened up Photoshop, I am glad you think I still have it in me!
The “Commentary” category does seem kind of odd. I think that was my off cheating and having an “uncategorized” area. I’ll fix that
I also took the footer out on every page…it is only on the home page.
I actually need a pointer on my CSS. Take a look at this page, the one we are on:

See the red bar under the comments area? That should be on the right margin. It only goes there when this content area is long enough. Do you know how I can force it to go that way?
Actually…we the content area just got long enough. Look at this one:
http://panchadsaram.com/2008/11/03/we-have-a-lot-of-work-to-do/
How about removing the empty ‘endofmargin’
divand giving the ‘margin’diva bottom border? Something like:#margin{border-bottom: 10px solid #a31e21;
}
This is why you are the master
i like it. the styling on the right reminds me of napster/target though
Thanks Beily! Haha maybe I should just put an image of my face there….that’d be original
